The Coalition To Advance Antiracism In Medicine was founded by a collective of Black women physicians committed to achieving health equity and justice for all patients.
WE BELIEVE health equity for patients will be achieved by ensuring Black, Brown, and Indigenous providers are protected from the cultures of racism and sexism within healthcare settings.
WE SEEK to build policies and infrastructure against medical racism through institutional & individual accountability; transparent data collection & reporting; enforcement of antiracist policy, procedures & protections within healthcare and empowerment of both patients and providers through the development of an antiracist workforce & resources
To create an inclusive, equitable and just healthcare system; and eliminate structural racism in systems of education, practice, research of medicine through the execution of policies, procedures and protections grounded in antiracism; and reinforced with systems and structures of accountability.
Members have the opportunity to share and learn from other CAAM members within our online community on a wide range of issues and actively create and participate in anti-racism movements. Members will be able to use their voices to support other advocacy organizations and learn ways to move forward anti-racism activities in their institutions.
CAAM has a growing number of supporter organizations, including Melanin, Medicine & Motherhood, Physicians for Criminal Justice Reform, Sistas In Medicine and Strong Children Wellness!
